Fish and fishery products are the most internationally traded food commodity. While fish supply from wild capture fisheries has stagnated, the demand for fish and fishery products has continued to rise. This increased demand has been met by a robust increase in aquaculture production. The UN estimates that the contribution of aquaculture to fish food supply will reach 60% by 2020. During the last decade the concerns of retailers and supermarket chains about environmental impacts of fisheries and aquaculture has grown.
